16 Beauty Products Every Woman Must Own

16 Items Every Woman Needs

I can’t tell you exactly how many beauty products I’ve gone through since being a teenager, but I know it’s been a lot! Judging by the three full draws of products I had to sort through before moving to Europe gives me some indication…

However, there is a makeup bag that I keep with my essentials. These are the products that I always use, without fail. The essential beauty products every woman must own are:

 1. Cleanser

Healthy skin starts with an amazing cleanser. There are many, MANY cleansers out in the world but it’s most important you use one  that is specific for your skin type. Don’t know what your skin type is? Click here.

 2. Exfoliant

The next step to amazing skin is an exfoliant. Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells from the top of your skin. How many times a week you exfoliate depends on what exfoliator you use and how sensitive your skin is. I exfoliate once a week in conjunction with a clarisonic brush.  3. Serum

A serum is for addressing specific skin concerns. There are many available and most seem to carry a  hefty price tag, however, there are cheaper options available as well. You just need to figure out what it is you want to address, whether that be dehydration, tackling wrinkles, fading dark spots, the list goes on.

 4. Moisturiser

Moisturiser is as important as cleanser in my books. There are many different types with prices from low to high Moisturiser improves the quality of the surface layer of your skin. It makes your skin feel comfortable and healthy.

 5. Face mask

Using a face mask every week will leave your skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. It’s just one of those extra products that you can add to your skin care regime to really give your complexion a boost!

 6. Lip balm

Lips can get very dry, very quickly! Keeping a lip balm handy is very helpful. I personally love Lucas’ Paw Paw ointment. This is many Australian’s go-to product for the lips, and for good reason!

 7.Foundation

Picking the right colour foundation is key! There’s nothing worst than seeing a woman with foundation lines along her jaw. To find your colour, choose your shade spectrum and apply 4 shades along your lower cheek and do not blend. The right colour will have you squinting to see the outline. This is your shade. Make sure to do this process outside in sunlight!! I know it’s annoying to be in a shop and then have to come out to test the shade, but better safe then sorry!

8. Primer

I absolutely love primer. It’s a base that you apply to skin before foundation. It gives the skin an extra layer of protection when you have makeup on. But most importantly, it helps your makeup last longer!

 9. Dry Shampoo

One of the best items I have discovered in recent years. It will prolong your blow-dry by a couple of days. Just spray into the roots of the hair (the part that gets the oiliest) and massage in for a few minutes before brushing out. Voila, clean hair!

 10. Concealer

If you’ve never used concealer before, it will now become your best friend. It will cover nasty spots, dark under-eye circles, help even out dark patches and will basically make you look and feel twenty times better. You need to make sure it matches your skin tone perfectly.

 11. Highlighting Pen

A highlighter is another one of those ‘wow’ products and is used to eliminate dark spots on your face. When applied correctly, it gives you a glowing look that people just can’t place! Click here for a how-to video.

 12. Brown Eye shadow

It’s not a joke when I say everybody looks good in brown eyeshadow. It gives warmth to all skin tones. I love using a brown creme eyeshadow by Bobbi Brown.

 13. Black Mascara

Coupled with an eyelash curler, black mascara makes a difference to everyones face. I tend to curl my top eyelashes and add a few coats. I stay away from doing my bottom lashes as they’re pretty long already.

 14. Blusher

Everyone can do with a little extra colour on their cheeks. A natural flush is very attractive.

 15. Bronzer

When used in conjunction with blush especially, this product can work a dream! Apply to the forehead, cheeks and jaw line in a ‘3’ pattern. Add blush over the top of the cheeks for the final touch.

 16. Red Lipstick

To add a little va-va VOOM to your next make-up look. Have a shade for day time as well as night time. Go to your favourite brands make-up counter for a consultation if unsure of what colours suit you.
