7 Steps To The Perfect Home Predicure

Having a home pedicure is one of life’s very small, but enjoyable goodies. While it may be great to have your toenails done at the salon, not everyone can afford, or has the time to indulge in this. Here are my 7 tips to creating your very own home pedicure.

1. Buff

Use a pumice stone to buff the calluses on the heel. It’s important to do this on dry feet first and not after soaking your feet so that you can really move the dead skin. Don’t be afraid to use some muscle as the skin there is very thick and dull to pain. Buff the heel until it is smooth. You can find good pumice’s at the Body Shop.

2. Soak feet

Next, soak feet in a a bowl of warm water and fill it with any foot oils you like to help sooth your feet. Leave for 10 minutes. When finished, dry your feet gently and ease cuticles back with a cuticle stick. You can also use this time to apply a foot lotion generously to the whole of the foot.

3. Remove old polish

Soak some cotton wool in nail polish remover and remove any old polish from the nails. Try and get as much out of the corners as possible. If struggling with the corners, try using a cotton bud tip instead.

4.  Clip & file nails

Cut your nails straight with a nail clipper. Then, use a nail file to round the edges of the nail.

 5. Apply a base coat

Using a base coat allows the colour to last longer. Since the base coat is clear, you don’t have to be too careful about it. However, don’t apply it too thickly as you want it to dry quickly and provide a good foundation for the colour thats about to come.

6. Colour

Apply two coats of your chosen colour carefully. You can really do whatever colours you like. Personally, I like using deep reds and pinks!

7.  Top coat & clean

Applying a top coat will stop chipping of the nail happening as easily and will also give the nail a lovely shine! When done, clean any excess colour spillage around the edges of the nails with a cotton tip soaked in nail polish remover.

And Voila! You now have pretty looking feet!
