The Age Of The Trousers

I don’t know if it’s the impending birthday in a couple of weeks or what, but I am finding that with age I am becoming more accustomed to a well fitting pair of trousers. Don’t get me wrong, I still love a skinny leg jean, however there is something ever so elegant about well fitted, wide-legged trousers or pants.

It’s been discussed among my girl group of late – the wide-legged, high-waist trouser is just ultra flattering on everyone!

COS has recently opened in Perth (I was jumping for joy when I found out), and they have an amazing range of said trousers! I’ve just spent my morning trying a whole bunch on (ahem).

Here are some tips on how to buy your perfect pair of trousers!

1. Consider the length

Pants in general should hit the heel of your shoe to create that ‘long-legged’ look. Alternatively, cropped pants look great on a petite frame.

2. The style

Wide-leg all the way. On tall women, it makes their legs look like they go for miles, and on petite women it helps elongate the leg as well. For extra length, go for a high-waist design.

3. Top-notch fabric

You want a trouser that is either made from cotton, silk or wool. Cotton will have more of a structure to it, silk will hang nicely from the body and wool will also hold its shape. A cotton-polyester blend will also work.

4. Colour

We’re a minimalist style blog, so I’m always going to recommend neutral colours. Basically, black if you need to create the extra slimming effect, lighter colours like white and nude shades if you want to high light your legs.
