Never has a layering post been more appropriate in the UK than right now. This past week the temperature dropped to as low as -4 degrees, which I was pretty shocked to discover one morning as I left early for work. As I’m writing this, it’s now a comfortable 8 degrees (I imagine my Australian friends laughing at that number as they are in the midst of an amazing summer), which feels much, much better!

This series has been all about layering, which is a must when living in Europe if you wish to keep warm in any sort of way. Check out the first and second part of the series if you haven’t already.

Everyone has errands and activities as part of their day. As much as I love putting on a big parka, there are times when I want to look a little more elegant while running around.

Tip 3 on learning how to layer is…

Wear a cape over a stole

Start by wearing a streamlined sweater, then add a stole and belt it at the waist to add some shape, then throw a thick cape on over the top and voilà!
