It has come that time when I’ve made the ‘wardrobe switch’… you know what I’m talking about… all my winter clothes have come out of the woodwork and the summer clothes have sadly been packed away. As much as I will miss summer, something I love about winter is experimenting with how to layer. There is much more opportunity to express yourself in winter, as you simply have to wear more clothes to stay warm! Duh!

Layering was always something that I struggled with when I moved to Europe… the winters are so much colder here than Australia (you never need more than two layers at any one time there) so, I’ve decided to do a series of posts on how to layer for the upcoming winter months.

Tip number 1 on how to layer is…

Every layer needs to be seen

I’ve decided to demonstrate this with a simple look – wearing a shirt over a sweater and completing the look with a blazer. Layered looks always look extra chic when you can see all the layers in some way. In this case, when you have the blazer on, you can still see the shirt poking out from underneath the sweater, and also the collar. When the blazer is off, you can also see the shirt folded up at the wrists.
