“If you own only one sweater, make sure it’s cashmere”.

One of my favourite quotes from the book How To Be Parisian Wherever You Are.

I have always believed in good quality materials, so I adopt a 80/20 rule when it comes to my clothing; I try and buy clothes with natural fibers 80% of the time and indulge in cheaper, lesser quality fabrics 20% of the time.

Cashmere sweaters, if cared for well, can last for years. Since cashmere is a natural fiber, it will breathe and so is more durable in the long term.

However, because of this, cashmere sweaters tend to be quite expensive. There are a few brands though that you can turn too for more affordable cashmere. UNIQLO is one of them, and they also frequently have sales on their cashmere as well!
