The tailored pant debacle

With winter well and truly here, it’s time to bust out the tailored pant. Ill fitting clothing is a big no-no in my book, the reason being that on first impression, nothing recommends you more than a well fitted outfit. Owning a pair of well tailored pants can take you from casual dinners to cooperate style events. It’s a very versatile piece of clothing!

Once upon a time, anything BUT a skinny leg jean/pant was considered ridiculous. Lately I’ve been embracing the wide-legged pant. Lock and Key Clothing have plenty of beautiful designs on their website.

But what to wear them with?

When dressing for the office, tailored pants look great with a tight knit tucked in, as well as with a simple white shirt with a blazer chucked on over the top. However don’t underestimate them, they can also be dressed down to wear for a casual night out. Pair them them a slightly tucked in oversized knit or with a t-shirt and leather jacket.

But what style best suits me?

There are many different types of tailored pants to choose from. If you’re tall and have a more boyish shape, opt for a pair of high-waist pants that define your midsection. They’ll draw attention to and flatter the area between your shoulders and hips. For those on the short side and with an hourglass figure (ahem), opt for cropped pants as they won’t overwhelm your figure. For the petite, tapered or straight leg trousers work a treat.

However, if all else fails ladies, wide-legged pants suit just about everyone, as they skim the leg and provide a very flattering fit! Just make sure to remember that the pants should cover as much as your shoe as possible without dragging on the floor!

So what are you waiting for? Go forth and shop!
