Step Two Towards Creating A Minimalist Wardrobe

Creating a minimalist wardrobe, or capsule size wardrobe, is no easy feat. It requires a lot of planning and time… however, I promise that all the work is worth it! A simpler wardrobe brings about a simpler and more mindful life, and it definitely doesn’t mean your wardrobe choices can’t be stylish as well! If this all sounds appealing to you, check out step one towards creating a minimalist wardrobe to catch up…

Okay, all done? Now read on….

Step two towards creating a minimalist wardrobe is all about assessing the pieces in your wardrobe you do have, and filling in the gaps!

Sounds super fun right? This is by far my favourite step.

By now, you should have creating a beautiful inspiration board with all your favourite looks. I now want you to scroll through these pictures. Have a notebook handy, and answer the following questions.

1. What colour/pattern scheme do you gravitate towards?

2. What clothing items are consistently being featured?

Once you’ve answered these, it’s now time to head towards your wardrobe and figure out which items you do have from your list of clothing items, and which ones you don’t, or those that need replacing. Each item should tick of the following criteria:

1. Be made of breathable/durable materials. This means cotton, silk, wool, cashmere, linen or hemp.

2. Not be in need of mending.

You should now have a list of items that you will need to purchase to create your minimalist wardrobe. However, the all important question is this – will all items in your new minimalist wardrobe predominately match each other?

The size of everyone’s minimalist wardrobe will be different depending on the lifestyle you lead. It’s all about making dressed in the morning simpler for yourself. However, most items need to be able to match each other for ease of dressing.

So go through what you have, and what’s on your list, and make sure everything will be easy to match with each other.

What are you waiting for? Get to it!

xx
