It was hard to narrow it down to only 5 must-see places in Paris but I did it! I was lucky enough to spend two blissful weeks exploring the city. Some people don’t get quiet as much time and so I believe the 5 must-see places to visit in Paris (that aren’t the typical Eiffel Tower or Arc de Triomphe) are:

Jardin des Tulleries

There are many beautiful gardens in Paris. Among them are the Palais Royal and the Jardin du Luxembourg however, my absolute favourite is the Jardin des Tulleries. Located in the 1st arrondissement, the garden is flanked by the louvre on one side and the Champs Elysees on the other. The gardens provide a refuge for Parisians to relax and eat lunch on lovely warm days.

Palace of Versailles

The Versailles region in France is mostly known by an amazing piece of architecture that was built there by King Louis XIV, the Palace (Chateau) of Versailles. Located just outside of Paris, it was the seat of power for Kings from 1682 until the French revolution in 1789. The palace and gardens are absolutely stunning and for 18 euro, you can have entry to the main palace, the huge gardens and the two smaller palaces located on the grounds as well. You also get access to Queen Marie Antoinette’s “hamlet”, which are English inspired cottages and farms she had built to enjoy the charms of country life. This was my second time to Versailles, and I can’t recommend it enough!

The Louvre

Famous for many an artwork and sculpture, (including the Mona Lisa), The Louvre is located in the 1st arrondissement. The building itself has a fascinating history, with the first walls being built in the middle ages. It’s hosted many inhabitants during its history, including Napoleon and his apartments form an exhibition within the louvre. For more information on the history of the building, click here.

Montmartre

Montmartre forms Paris’ 18th arrondissement and is my favourite by far. It is quintessentially French, with the architecture, cafes’s, small shops and vibe. I stayed just near this area, and I visited it quite a few times during my two weeks, and found something new to see and do every time. Talk a walk through the cobbled streets around dinner time, while the sun is setting…. magical.

Angelina

This tea room is the finest in Paris… The “Mont Blanc” is its most famous pastry and it’s to die for!!! This place also has the best hot chocolate ever… seriously. Try it. You will not regret it. For more information, click here.

These are my 5 must-see places in Paris. Do you have one?
