I was lucky enough to make another trip to Dubrovnik this past month to visit my family, and it was the first time I had been to Dubrovnik during autumn! Having now experienced every season on the year there, I’ve now decided that autumn is the best month to visit!

Here are my reasons for why you should visit Dubrovnik in autumn

1. The weather is perfect

The weather is truly beautiful this time of year, not too hot, but still warm enough for swimming! It was around 25 degrees consistently for the days I was there, and it was right at the end of autumn as well. The local swimming spots are not that crowded this time of year, so there’s plenty of space to relax and have a swim.

2. Not as many tourists

The tourist season finishes at the end of autumn, so there are less cruise ships in port as well as less tourists in general. Dubrovnik being the beautiful city that it is, is always so packed during the summer, that it can be very hard to move in stradun (main street in town), as well as everywhere else in the city. But in autumn, everything is less crowded,  there are smaller lines, and there is generally a more relaxed atmosphere. Which all makes for a much better holiday!

3. The fruits, flowers and colours

Grapes have ripened, mandarins are in abundance, and cherries are still around. Not to mention all the beautiful flowers that are in bloom! I was blown away by all the bright colours at the local market, as well as the colours in general in nature. It’s the small things in life 🙂

4. Perfect weather to visit Konavle

Konavle is the region south-east of Dubrovnik and is where my family is originally from. Visiting ‘the village’ is always a highlight when I visit Croatia. The towns are small, the beaches spectacular, the food is amazing and there are plenty of rolling hills, trails and mountains for you to get happily lost in. Spend a beautiful Sunday there by first visiting Čilipi Folklore, which has a free dancing performance from 11am-12pm every Sunday from Easter to late October. Next, head to Konavoski Dvori restaurant for a fantastic meal right next to the natural spring river!

Have you been to Dubrovnik before? Do you have a reason why you should visit Dubrovnik in autumn?
