As you may have read in previous blog posts, a couple of months ago I moved city for the second time this year, from Berlin to London. Sadly, I practically lost all of my important clothing and accessory items along the way, as the company with shipped our luggage with lost the lot.

I did have one bag with me, however, all of my quality items such as coats, dresses and jewellery were in the lost bag. So this past month, I have been slowly re-building my wardrobe. The inspiration for this post obviously came through having to slowly add items back into my wardrobe. As you know, this blog is all about investing in quality items for your wardrobe, and so this process is going to take months, not just one afternoon of shopping.

With this in mind, I wanted to create this blog post as an ode to all women who are trying to create a new style for themselves this coming winter, and the items I believe they should invest in when creating a new wardrobe. Here are the basic items that every woman should have in their wardrobe coming into winter:

1. Wool coat

In any style that suits your body shape. I can’t go past the wrap style!

2. Black and dark blue jeans

High-waisted jeans are my favourite right now.

3. Black and navy blazers

Blazers are one of my favourite outerwear pieces. Every brand has a range however, try J-Crew for the best of the best!

4. White silk shirt

A must-have for the office, and under a blazer for the weekend.

5. Cotton oxford style shirt

Again, perfect for the office with a sweater over the top. Make sure to fold back the sleeves of the shirt over the sweater for the ultimate chic layering look.

6.  Trench coat

Burberry. Always Burberry.

7. Investment bag (tote style)

Cost per wear my friend. Check out my post on why you should buy an investment bag here.

8. Watch

In whatever coloured metal that suits you.

9. Black stilettos

Make them comfy by adding extra padding at the back of the heel and sole.

10. Dark green parka

I’m currently lusting over this one by Parka London.

11. Ballet flats

Very French chic. For the best, buy Repetto, the original makers of the ballet flat.

12. A blanket scarf

It literally doubles as a blanket. What more could you ask for?

13. Black leather gloves

Or cashmere, whatever you find more comfortable

14. Knee-High Leather boots

For extra warmth over tights and with skirts.

15. 100 denier tights

Try to buy tights with extra heat benefits.

16. Wool sweater dress

Because sometimes you will have to go to a outdoor event and you will want to be as warm as possible.

17. Crew neck sweater

Layer over the top of an oxford shirt for the ultimate in layering style.

18. Striped sweater

Just because I love them.

What’s an item of clothing you can’t live without?

xx
