Pencil skirts are not just for the workplace – they can make great casual outfits as well. They can easily be taken from day to night, they accentuate the waist which provides a slimming effect, they are super comfortable to wear when you’ve purchased the correct one and they mix and match really easily with other items in your wardrobe! If all those reasons don’t convince you to go buy one then I don’t know what will!
Here’s how to buy the perfect pencil skirt for you:
1. Make sure the pencil skirt fits your body. It should skim your body and have a straight, narrow cut. It shouldn’t be too tight or ride up as you walk. It definitely shouldn’t restrict you from walking.
2. Watch the length of your pencil skirt. It should fall on the knee or right below it. Anything too high or too long will ruin the shape of the skirt.
3. Check the slit at the back of the skirt. If it’s not open in the shop, make sure you are able to cut it open when you get home. A slit helps in being able to walk in your pencil skirt! But make sure it’s not too high, as you may end up showing a bit more leg then you had planned!
4. Make sure you pick a pencil skirt that suits your style so that you can wear it again and again. Sticking with neutral colours will help with this.
