Freiburg is a very picturesque town in the south-west of Germany and has been on my bucket list for quite some time now! The city has a small town feel, with no more than 230 000 people living in a around the city and sits right next to the famous Black Forest, which is named as such because the density of the conifer trees means that much of the light is blocked out. The forest offers excellent walking/hiking opportunities and there are great views of the city from certain points. Make sure to pack good shoes, this is no time for ballet flats!
Other great features of this beautiful town are the Freiburg Cathedral and Munsterplatz – the town square which has many lovely restaurants and cafe’s adorning it.
